When we talk about “Die Höchste Eisenbahn” there is no doubt that we have to indicate the first-class references, because highly praised Francesco Wilking (Tele), Moritz Krämer, Felix Weigt (Kid Kopphausen) and Max Schröder (Der Hund Marie, Tomte) actually created such a thing as a songwriter supergroup. They released their new album “Schau in den Lauf Hase” in November 2013. And their work busily collects compliments all over the country in the German pop cosmos. Their record label “Tapete Records” compares the tunes with the feeling you get when watching “La Boum“ – quite fitting! The Berlin based musicians are amazingly vibrant and trendy. Their kitsch is extremely charming. They have bodacious stories in stock. Wonderful stories … Songs for the head, heart and hips. “Die Höchste Eisenbahn” is encouraging, they really can warm your heart. The two following songs they presented to (you and) us at The (Alte) Elbe River under the old and closed down railroad bridge will bring the evidence. Field recording style and hippie charm! Two typical representatives of the entire album, which passes through vales of tears, longing, loss and world weariness, but also climbs the heights, while knowing the broken hearts and the warm feeling in our stomachs at the same time. Somehow the missing link between experience and passion.
“Isi” is like a rush of sugar. It brings the tears to your eyes, not because of the dental pain concerning the sugar, but simply because of the wonderful and uninhibited self-indulgence of the presented romance. Far from any arbitrariness or irrelevance. “Aliens” is on the other hand a lively one! Mobile phone videos should help those aliens to imagine the world and what it was like in the past.
